To be or not to be a non alcoholic drinker?
That is the question that many people face when they want to enjoy a drink without getting drunk. Some might think that non alcoholic drinks are boring, tasteless, or lame, while others might appreciate their benefits, such as being healthier, more creative, and more inclusive.
In this blog, I will explore the pros and cons of non alcoholic drinks, and share some of my favorite recipes and tips on how to make them. Whether you are a teetotaler, a sober curious, or a moderate drinker, you will find something that suits your taste and lifestyle.
Non alcoholic drinks are not just water, soda, or juice. They are actually a wide range of beverages that can mimic the flavor, appearance, and sensation of alcoholic drinks, without the negative effects. You can find non alcoholic versions of beer, wine, champagne, gin, whiskey, and more, as well as mocktails, smoothies, teas, coffees, and more.
Some of the advantages of non alcoholic drinks are:
- They are healthier than alcoholic drinks, as they contain less calories, sugar, and additives. They also do not cause dehydration, hangover, or addiction.
- They are more diverse and creative than alcoholic drinks, as they can be made with a variety of ingredients, flavors, and colors. You can experiment with different combinations and recipes to suit your taste and mood.
- They are more inclusive and social than alcoholic drinks, as they can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age, religion, or health condition. You can share them with your friends, family, or colleagues, and have fun without feeling pressured or left out.
Some of the disadvantages of non alcoholic drinks are:
- They are more expensive than alcoholic drinks, as they are often taxed higher, or have less availability and variety in the market.
- They are less satisfying than alcoholic drinks, as they do not provide the same buzz, relaxation, or confidence that alcohol does.
- They are more stigmatized than alcoholic drinks, as they are often seen as boring, childish, or weak by some people, especially in social situations.
